Each year, around 12,000 young people leave the UK care system on their 18th birthday. For many, this marks the start of an uncertain journey into adulthood, often without the support that some of us might take for granted. With this in mind, Kimpton Fitzroy London is honoured to partner with Coram, the UK’s first Children’s charity this Christmas, to launch Never Wanted To Leave, a campaign to raise awareness and funds for young adults transitioning out of care.
At the heart of the campaign is a special guestbook filled with moving stories, reflections, and poems from young people currently or formerly in care, with a foreword by actor and Coram Champion for Children, Peter Capaldi. Guests are invited to leave their own messages of support in the guestbook and make a donation to Coram by purchasing a limited-edition Christmas bauble for £25 from front desk. All proceeds will directly support children in Coram’s care.
Launching on Monday, 18th November, Never Wanted To Leave will be set up by the reception desk, where the guestbook and baubles will be available. To further mark the campaign, our hotel Christmas tree is adorned with a symbolic Never Wanted To Leave ribbon, representing our commitment to this cause and to Coram.
